About the Author

LIONEL MELKA started his career in 1998 with Lazard Frères, where he undertook numerous M&A advisory engagements for blue chip clients (French State, LVMH, Air France, Saint-Gobain, Casino, France Telecom, Thomson, Air Liquide, Danone, Vivendi, or Kingfisher) in a large scope of situations: privatizations, friendly and hostile takeover bids, LBOs, asset disposals and IPOs. He then joined the M&A Department of Crédit Agricole, where he worked on various advisory assignments in the TMT-Defence team and, in 2005, he joined LCF Rothschild where he led many M&A cross-border assignments in various industry sectors. He is also a teacher at the University of Paris Dauphine and is the co-writer of Le Merger Arbitrage, a French reference book published in 2011 by Economica. Lionel received a Master’s degree in finance from the University of Paris – Dauphine.

AMIT SHABI started his career as a commander of an analyst team in a military intelligence unit of the Israel Defence Forces. Prior to founding Bernheim, Dreyfus & Co. and launching the Diva Synergy Fund, he worked in asset management at LCF Rothschild and then as an OTC derivatives sales at MAN group and BGC Cantor Fitzgerald. Amit holds a Master’s degree in business administration from the Sorbonne University and is the co-writer of Le Merger Arbitrage, a French reference book published in 2011 by Economica.

The book is good by its content, but not so much in its facture. Too load, too wide with mince coverts, in such a way that is too heavy to be supported by naked hands. Anyway, thank for it.

Upholding God's/Our Truth through healing sounds

Review of the Book "Seed Sounds for Tuning the Chakras" by James D'Angelo, Phd
This is an wondelful and very welcome new book on what we call Nada Yoga or the Yoga [unity in Truth] of mantras and seed sounds of the human voice. Our previous Divine Self, Swami Vishnu in 2] has explained that learning Nada Yoga is the last and highest step in mastering Raja Yoga, the unity in Divine and Human Truth in the Divine Will and Human Will [after mastering the Hatha Yoga postures and Breathing]. As a part of the book several excellent training audio recordings for "tuning the healing sounds" are included. It is the author's theory (which he takes I believe from the discussions in cfs 3] and 10]) that the reason that most people are not successful using seed sounds is that they have not first "tuned" them properly to the chakras. This goes along with my experiences in trying to teach Yoga and learning to play the music. Most people cannot understand the "chakras" until they have first done the particular hatha yoga exercises that correspond to each of them and I have been unable to learn music and piano until I did a lot of "finger exercises" to go along with the theory. I have discussed some of the connections of these "seed sounds" to the famous "Parable of the Sower" of Jesus Christ in some posting in the references 7] and 8]. Of the four uses of yogic mantras and the four aims of human life explained by Thomas in 5]: 1) abundance, 2) fulfilling desires, 3) upholding truth, 4) enlightenment I believe these particular seed sounds and trainings fall into the 3) aim of healing through the upholding of God's Truth in our spiritual souls and bodies . As for Thomas' and our aim #4 above, Reference 9] in its Brahmananda Valli gives a five by five metaphysical scheme for God's Presence dwelling in our souls. The Siksa Valli or "witness" Valli in the Upanishad gives a corresponding explanation of the "laya" or dissolution process of Sanskrit's sounds which corresponds to James' tuning of healing us through the sanctification process of using these seed syllable sounds in our chakras. God's Holy Spirit in us is a twofold Presence and Power which becomes One as He becomes One in us. Nor does James not use any of the "n" sounds of the standard Yogic "matrika" (see references 1] and 4]) of which there are at least four in Sanskrit. The "n" sounds are the basis for what Buddhist's call the "mindfulness bell" that rings inside of us as a "Ring of God's Holy Spirit Truth" in order for us to learn and be healed through a better mindful awareness of the present moment as we are experiencing it (see ref. 11]) . Also, does he reference the standard Sanskrit vowel "rrr" and "llrr" sounds which correspond to our mantra prayer intentions and their fulfillment as explained in 4]. But, all in all, I think these teachings are very useful especially when you combine them with a broader understanding of the material in the other references referred to and listed below.

Nice book and CD combo for healing with sound, vocal chanting and toning

D'Angelo's Seed Sounds For Tuning The Chakras is a book that explores both theory and practical application of using sound through the voice to facilitate healing and spiritual development. This book examines language and sound vibration and provides exercises using vowel, consonant, and syllables for spiritual activation. This book examines the chakras, their properties and their relationship to sound. It explores how the way people resonate with sound can be quite individual, with no particular system being ideal for everyone. It also looks at the letters and syllables in words and their significance - this aspect is one that seems a bit weak to me even though it is interesting, as it is questionable if all the examples cited are truly significant in terms of the relationship between the construction of the word with its letters and sounds and the meaning of the word. Overall, I found the book to be intriguing and insightful, offering valuable guidance about working with sound in this manner. The information matches well with books by other authors in this subject area, such as Jonathan Goldman (who has been quoted with his praise of D'Angelo's book). The included audio CD provides sample exercises with vowel, consonant, and syllable sounds, which are easy to tone along with. Those who like this book may also wish to get Goldman's Tantra of Sound book/CD combo, which I have found to be a valuable resource and reference.

Just boring

I think this is the only book I gave a negative review, but at least it is a brief one and a CD is included.
I didn't like his way of writing: too rambling and boring.
Most of the things written, for example the chakra system, are much better explained in other books.
I found that J. D'Angelo makes useless stretches to the English language to find correlations between English words and foreign words. This was the most boring part of the book.
He claims to have discovered, in an intuitive way, new sounds (consonants) to work with the chakras, very similar to the 6 Taoist healing sounds.
In 2 pages he pretends to make us discover our fundamental tone, but having studied Nada yoga with one of the students of Sri Vemu Mukunda, I can tell you that finding the right ground tone in a person it is not so easy as D'Angelo says. You need at least 45 minutes and a well trained person to find your ground tone, but who knows may be it works also what it suggests.
Anyway after reading the book, I was so disappointed that I didn't try the sounds he suggests and I didn't listen to the CD. May be in the next future I will give it a second chance.

This book full of personal struggles, a bit of romance, and a VERY surprising turn of events! If you think this book would be boring because of the history, think again! Yes, this book is rich in history, but you don't notice it very much, in a good way. If you enjoy Dear America books, you have to read this book!

PRINGLE Rose is very brave and cares about her brother.It is sort of SAD that her parents died and that her aunt TREATED HER so badly that she ran away to Chicago. My favorite part of this novel is when she tries to find Gideon during the fire. My opinion is that this book is amazing!!!!:): D

Top Tier of Trading Books

Despite years in the market I had never heard of the Underground Trader or Jea Yu before buying this book. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It is written by somebody that has clearly been in the trading trenches. Trading Full Circle is packed with information from cover to cover. You get the feeling that the author is not holding anything back. The book is mostly about day trading but the basic methodology can be applied to all time frames.

Although well written, it's not always an easy book to digest. Even with my experience I found that I had to read and reread some sections to understand what was going on. It would be tough read for beginners but the first two chapters (Starting with Failure and What is the "Edge") should be a must read for all traders. If you are a beginner and can get through the book and truly understand what Yu is saying, the book it will save you many headaches and many dollars.

The one criticism I would have is that Yu uses terminology early in the book that means nothing unless you are familiar with the terminology of his system. I kept hearing the term "Pup's". I finally had to stop my reading and study the section later in the book to understand what "Pup's" and some other terminology are. To Yu's credit, he does provide a Glossary in the back.

The general methodology of the UndergroundTrader System isn't unique but the way the methodology is used and the detail given in the book makes "Trading Full Circle" a top tier trading book. Also, don't miss the three Appendix sections in the back of the book. All are excellent. One is written by Suri Duddella, whom I've heard speak. He's one of the top experts in pattern trading.

"Trading Full Circle" is not cheap but clearly in this case, you get more than what you pay for.

The first 1/3 of the book was promising, quite different than how other Trading books are written, but then he lost me when it got into actual setups which were nothing special. People who haven't read his previous book will be lost until he finally explains what his setups are. I probably won't finish it.

I am surprised by the grammatical errors that this book has. I have seen several instances now of misspelled words, or sentences that weren't quite right and I am only halfway through the book. As a required book for one of my college senior classes, I expected it to be proofread more thoroughly.

The book itself is repetitive and boring but its written in a way that you can read each headline and pull something together based on it because somehow what you think you're going to read about is what you actually read about. The book just stretches out the chapters unnecessarily.

A good overall book on how to develop communication skills

As with most of the "Dummy" books, Communication Skills for Dummies by Elizabeth Kuhnke presents a comprehensive and clearly stated overview of how to develop skills for communication in an informal and even humourous style. The book is divided into six parts covering such topics as Honing Your Communication Skills, Being Receptive to Others, Managing Communication Challenges and Communication Across Cultures. I found the latter chapter particularly useful as I often interact with people from different countries and cultures. The author focuses mostly on face-to-face situations but also covers communicating with technology such as email, by phone and in written form.

A good solid guide for everyone who communicates.

Author Elizabthe Kuhnke, is the author of Communication Skills for Dummies and is highly qualified, running a UK communication company on a day to day basis helping people run effective communications within their organizations.

This is a short but effective manual on business communication. Fifteen chapters go over the essentials basics like communication styles, goals, negotiation and communicating across cultures. I found the chapter on getting yourself out of sticky situations especially useful for my job in Customer Service. The tips and explanations are clear and concise and are useful to anyone from a student to a 20 year executive. Anyone in any industry needs to know the fine art of healthy and productive communication. This would be a good reference to keep on hand in the office for team training and employee education.

A Great Refresher!

I found this book really great. For someone, like me, who has been out of school for a number of years (I won't say how many) then this is a wonderful refresher. I really enjoyed the sections on modern technology because I happen to be the world's worst texter. I swear I am! Hubby will text me and use some of the common slang and I am like "What?" This book was so helpful I think I am going to start using it in my homeschool lessons because the sections on Communicating Across Cultures and The Part of Tens is so helpful. I think that the kids will gain a lot from it. The Part of Tens gives you ten essential tips for speaking face to face which I think everyone needs. The Communicating Across Cultures will help them learn what I already try to teach them everyday and that is to accept cultural differences. As with all of their other books, For Dummies books delivers another winner for easy to read and understanding a topic!
