Misleading book from an "expert" who cheats people

I didn't like this book because it rehashes a lot of the same stuff in his first book, thus the materials is not very "new". "Ted Tesser's New Book" is a case of the Emperor's New Clothes. The author runs a supposedly reputable business in Florida trying to "save traders money". I followed the tax advice in the book on setting up corporate entities and ended up caught between a rock and a hard place, because the book did not include critically important details (perhaps intentionally?). When I needed more specific details, the authors' company tried to force me to pay $350/hour charged to a credit immediately over the phone for advice if my CPA was standing there to help me make sense of it all. The phone call was already costing me $100/hour. At that point I knew I was dealing with a sheister. I would not recommend this book or getting involved with the Waterside Financial to anyone. I have an older edition, I was very impressed. It's a wealth of information anyone with assets to protect needs to know written with not only technical knowledge but also wisdom. It exposed me to a variety of tax and wealth protection issues I had never heard of, and left me with new perspectives on wealth protection. I wrote this review when I saw the earlier cynical reviews giving it a bad rating. The older edition I read has had a positive effect on my life worth far more than the price of the book or the time to read it.

Good beginner book

The book is really good. The reason why I gave it only 3 stars is that it doesn't cover the complex stuff I am looking for. And it mostly target to small trader. This book will do you little good if you able to make over million dollars a year from the market. The book does not mention much about asset protection. As with any trader, the only asset is their cash, and I believe the author should put more work into this section if a new version is on the way.

Motives and Philosophies of World Music Musicians

What is not world music? If a Greek musician performs rap or mainstream jazz, is it world music? Elijah Wald, the author, musician, and globetrotter who interviewed these many musicians, provides us with much more than what appears in album press releases or liner notes. His insightful commentaries within each profile, in addition to the regional introductions, are excellent and give the reader a greater understanding of what is regarded as world music and how such musicians balance their traditions and roots with modern audience expectations and desires. Some 65 artists from around the planet are profiled. Even the United States is included, as Hawai'ian and Native American indigenous musicians certainly meet the criteria. Selection is, of course, a personal and pragmatic decision, but I find myself in large agreement and would have included nearly all the representatives. The quality of each section varies with the artist, owing to their own analyses and, I assume, familiarity with English, but even the popular, well-interviewed musicians offer new observations about their art and industry. This, therefore, is a fine book (think gift!) for the world music aficionado and ethnomusicologist. This grand survey will also enrich the curious listener who desires to learn about different world musics and musicians.

Homosexual scholarship for all

This is a tremendous anthology of homosexual scholarship on classical music. Particularly persuasive is the chapter in which Schubert is 'outed' with reference to his 'Unfinished' 8th Symphony. Who could deny that the deviant use of harmony constitutes anything other than overwhelming proof of his sexual inclinations? I whole-heartedly support the author's view that Schubert's body should be exhumed and interred in a specialist gay cemetery. The well-substantiated accusation that Ives' music is 'homophobic' is quite startling and forces one to question whether his music is valid in the more tolerant society of today. This is a most objective foray into music that should be compulsory reading to all.

An Excellent Horror Film Compendum

As a major horror fan, I can tell you that I've read a lot of essays and books on the genre. While there are many books that deal with specifics in horror films, vampires, serial killers, etc, "DARK PARADES" is the the first to discuss a unifying theory of all horror films: The Spectacle of Isolation. The book begins by drawing parallels between Avant-Garde Cinema and Horror movies, both on the opposite ends of commercial cinema. Avant-Garde representing "HIGH" culture while Horror represents "Low" culture. Later chapters in the book deal with specific directors oevres, specifically, the works of HITCHCOCK, RAIMI and CRONENBERG.

Highly recommended if you're a screenwriter, director, actor or whether you just love to watch Horror films.

Gr 1-3–Of these books, Boris and Class Pets competently fill the gap between easy readers and early chapter books, while Meltdown Madness and Coco are a bit more challenging. Boris really wants a komodo dragon. He writes to the zoo to see if their komodo dragons ever take vacations. Turns out, they don't, and Boris's plans are ruined. He puts his skink in the komodo cage and tries to pass it off as a baby dragon. After it escapes, Boris reopens his letter from the zoo, finds tickets for free admission, and his whole family has an outing. Missy wants to take home the class pets for the weekend but her plans are derailed when a new girl is determined to have what she wants. In the end, Missy bests the bully. Boris's and Missy's stories are told through traditional text, many speech bubbles, and comic-book panels. Both books incorporate full-color artwork throughout. Meltodown Madness looks the most like a traditional early chapter book, with many black-and-white sketches accompanying the text. The young narrator has a magic coin that translates his words into reality (sayings like “money doesn't grow on trees” spawn a dollar bill under the tree). The boy's powers often cause more trouble than good, but in the end he is able to reason his way into a solution. Coco is in the form of a diary and includes black-and-white lists and doodles. The little girl uses her love of baking cupcakes to help save snails from becoming extinct. Words like “extinct” and “fund-raiser” are defined in doodled bubbles. Easy and entertaining read for my 7 year old

Easy and entertaining read for my 7 year old. She loves the entire series. I like it because all of the characters are nice to each other, even when they think they don't like someone, and the situations are suitable for their ages. Best of all, no bad language, no one is called stupid or is told to shut up. I only wish there were more than 4 books.

None of Lotus Lane series appeals to me or my daughter. My daughter is pretty advanced reader for her age group but this book frustrated her as it is full of instant messaging type of lingo and spelling.

The Role of Ecstasy in the Spiritual Life

One of Matthew Fox's earliest books, this title explores the importance of ecstasy in the spiritual life. Fox considers the distinction between "natural" ecstasies (like sex) and "tactical" ecstasies (like meditation); he goes on to consider that a truly authentic mysticism must be sensuous in its orientation, so to cultivate the maximum amount of ecstasy for the maximum amount of people. From there he spins out to consider how we need a communal mysticism -- in his words: "We shall become ecstatic together or else we'll become extinct together." Few spiritual authors are so honest about the importance of ecstasy/sensuality in life--or in mysticism. Years ahead of its time when first published in 1976, this book is still bold and relevant today. Perfect for anyone who thinks mysticism needs to get out of the head and into the body.

AN EARLY BOOK FROM THE EXPOUNDER OF CREATION SPIRITUALITY

Matthew Fox (born 1940) is a theologian and bestselling advocate of "Creation Spirituality." He became a Catholic priest of the Dominican order, but was removed in 1992, and has subsequently become an Episcopalian priest. He has published an autobiography, Confessions: The Making of a Post-Denominational Priest.

He begins the Preface to this 1976 book (republished in 1981) by stating, "This is a practical book about waking up and returning to a biblical, justice-oriented spirituality. Such a spirituality is a way of passion that leads to compassion. Such a way is necessarily one of coming to our senses in every meaning of that phrase."

He justifies his use of the term "sensuous spirituality" by saying, "I feel sorry for these fearful people who have apparently never enjoyed the sensuousness ... of a home-grown tomato or a ripe peach. Have they never wallowed in the delight of a baby's smell, squeals, or a puppy's cuddling? Of the smell of a horse's sweat or a lilac's perfume? Shame on such people?" Somewhat surprisingly, he rejects the approach of Teilhard de Chardin "because he is chauvinistic, dualistic and ultimately afraid of the sensual; because he is unaware of political evil; and because he ignores Jesus for the Christ."
