the writing style is one I enjoyed

Leiann Hambrick is happy with her career as a schoolteacher in Texas until her mother's death reveals long held family secrets. Now she has discovered her beloved father was not her father at all and that she has a grandfather in Boston she never knew about. Now she must go to see him to get some answers.
Gerome Mays is convinced someone is extorting money from his step father, Herman Johnson's accounts and will do whatever it takes to find answers. He even goes so far as to take some time off from his career to got to Herman, acting as a down on his luck drifter and convinces him to hire him on as a gardener, the two of them keeping secret who he is, so as to figure out who the culprit is.
When Leiann arrives, claiming to be Herman's long lost grand-daughter, Gerome suspects her as having a hand in the thefts. When accidents start to happen to Leiann, Gerome comes to realize he has stronger feelings for her than he should for someone who may be conning his step father. Only his trust in the Lord will help him find the truths hidden within.
Who Am I? is a sweet story about finding love in unlikely places. Leiann is lost when she discovers she isn't who she always believed she was and needs to come to terms with the truth about her family. In the middle of all the upheaval, she loses her faith in God, wondering how he could have allowed her to live a lie her entire life. Then when she meets her grandfather and finds out how much he cares about her, she is even more confused as to why God had not provided her a way to learn the truth.
Gerome deeply loves and respects his step father and can't bear the thought that someone is stealing from him. The last thing he needs is a young woman creeping into his heart, and one who seems to be in danger at that. Yet in the midst of his fears and confusion, he never loses faith that God will provide all the answers and a means for Gerome to have his heart's desire.
While the writing style in Who Am I? is one I enjoyed, I had some issues with various aspects of the plot and the character's personalities. I understand that the short length of the novel makes it difficult to have too complex of a storyline, but the mystery was far too easy to solve. I had the entire thing figured out the minute Leiann arrived in Boston and spent the rest of the time wondering how long it would take Gerome to discover the obvious. I also thought Leiann was far too naïve and oblivious to what's right before her eyes. I think the naïveté was meant to make Leiann seem more like a small town innocent girl, but in actuality she bordered on my least favorite character... the TSTL heroine.
Who Am I? was my first book by Lena Nelson Dooley and while it was good, I'm not sure it was good enough to make me want to seek out more works by the author. I thought she did a wonderful job bringing the faith aspect in to her story, having strong Christians Gerome and Herman show Leiann, who turned away from God after finding out about her family, help her find her way back into the light of the Lord.

Good Romantic Suspense

Leiann Hambrick's world is turned upside down when her mother dies. She learns she's not who she thought she was. The house in which she and her mother lived belongs to a grandfather she never knew. If she wants to continue living there she must make a trip to Massachusetts to meet him. She's not sure she wants to meet this grandfather who has ignored her for so many years, but but she makes the journey, wondering how welcome she will be.
Someone is stealing from Gerome Mays' stepfather. Could this long-lost grandaughter be part of the plot? He intends to find out more about her. Then strange things begin to happen, and Leiann is in danger.
Lena Nelson Dooley's fans know they can count on her for a good story. Who Am I blends romance and intrigue in a satisfying mix, seasoned with a strong faith message.
